22 “If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall ^(A)restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. ² If the thief is found ^(B)breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be ^(C)no guilt for his bloodshed. ³ If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be ^(D)sold^[a] for his theft. ⁴ If the theft is certainly ^(E)found alive in his hand, whether it is an ox or donkey or sheep, he shall ^(F)restore double.

² “If a person sins and ^(A)commits a trespass against the Lord by ^(B)lying^[a] to his neighbor about ^(C)what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or about ^[b]a pledge, or about a robbery, or if he has ^(D)extorted from his neighbor,

⁴ then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall ^[a]restore ^(A)what he has stolen, or the thing which he has extorted, or what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or the lost thing which he found,

⁵ or all that about which he has sworn falsely. He shall ^(A)restore its full value, add one-fifth more to it, and give it to whomever it belongs, on the day of his trespass offering.

⁶ “Speak to the children of Israel: ^(A)‘When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit in unfaithfulness against the Lord, and that person is guilty,

^7 (A)then he shall confess the sin which he has committed. He shall make restitution for his trespass ^(B)in full, plus one-fifth of it, and give it to the one he has wronged.

⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the ^(A)poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by ^(B)false accusation, ^(C)I restore fourfold.”
