⁴³ They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they come into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near ^(A)the altar to minister in the holy place, that they ^(B)do not incur ^[a]iniquity and die. ^(C)It shall be a statute forever to him and his descendants after him.

^17 (A)“Why have you not eaten the sin offering in a holy place, since it is most holy, and God has given it to you to bear ^(B)the guilt of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the Lord?

⁹ ‘They shall therefore keep ^(A)My ^[a]ordinance, ^(B)lest they bear sin for it and die thereby, if they profane it: I the Lord sanctify them.

¹⁶ or allow them to bear the guilt of trespass when they eat their holy offerings; for I the Lord sanctify them.’ ”

Duties of Priests and Levites

18 Then the Lord said to Aaron: ^(A)“You and your sons and your father’s house with you shall ^(B)bear the ^[a]iniquity related to the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity associated with your priesthood.

⁴ “Lie also on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it. According to the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity. ⁵ For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; ^(A)so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. ⁶ And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year.

The Lamb of God^(A)

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! ^(B)The Lamb of God ^(C)who takes away the sin of the world!

²⁸ so ^(A)Christ was ^(B)offered once to bear the sins ^(C)of many. To those who ^(D)eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
