³ Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you because you are a stiff-necked people; otherwise, I might destroy you on the way.”^(A)

⁵ For the Lord said to Moses: “Tell the Israelites: You are a stiff-necked people. If I went with you for a single moment, I would destroy you. Now take off your jewelry, and I will decide what to do with you.”

⁹ Then he said, “My Lord, if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Even though this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wrongdoing and sin, and accept us as Your own possession.”^(A)

⁸ Don’t become obstinate^[a](A) now like your fathers did. Give your allegiance^[b] to Yahweh, and come to His sanctuary that He has consecrated forever. Serve the Lord your God so that He may turn His burning anger away from you,^(B)

Resisting the Holy Spirit

⁵¹ “You stiff-necked^(A) people with uncircumcised hearts and ears!^(B) You are always resisting the Holy Spirit; as your ancestors did, so do you.
