⁶ Then the Lord passed in front of him and proclaimed:

²² And what if God, desiring to display His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience^(A) objects of wrath ready for destruction?^(B)

¹⁶ But I received mercy^(A) for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate His extraordinary patience^(B) as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.^(C)

²⁰ who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah^(A) while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people^[a](B)—were saved through water.

¹⁵ Also, regard the patience of our Lord as an opportunity for salvation, just as our dear brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.^(A)
