⁷ maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.^(A) But he will not leave the guilty^(B) unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.

³⁹ Those^[a] who survive in the lands of your enemies will waste away because of their iniquity; they will also waste away because of their ancestors’ iniquities along with theirs.
