²¹ The Lord instructed Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, make sure you do before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put within your power. But I will harden his heart^[a](A) so that he won’t let the people go.

³ But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart^(A) and multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

²³ But Sihon would not let Israel travel through his territory. Instead, he gathered his whole army and went out to confront Israel in the wilderness. When he came to Jahaz,^(A) he fought against Israel.

¹³ He also rebelled against^(A) King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear allegiance by God. He became obstinate^[a](B) and hardened his heart against returning to the Lord, the God of Israel.
