8 I’m determined to oppose that person[a] and make him an example. Proverbs will be written about him[b] when I eliminate him from my people. Then you’ll know that I am the Lord.”’”

9 “Now as to the prophet, if through deceit he delivers a message, I the Lord have deceived that prophet! I’ll reach out in opposition to him and exterminate him from among my people Israel. 10 They’ll bear the consequences of their guilt, and the prophet will be just as guilty as the one who seeks that prophet’s guidance.

8 I will set my face against(A) them and make them an example(B) and a byword.(C) I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(D)
9 “‘And if the prophet(E) is enticed(F) to utter a prophecy, I the Lord have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.(G) 10 They will bear their guilt—the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him.
