Therefore the Lord God saith these things, As the tree of a vine is among the trees of woods, which I gave to fire to devour, so I gave the dwellers of Jerusalem, (And so the Lord God saith these things, Like the vine tree is among the trees in the woods, which I gave to the fire to devour, so I shall take the inhabitants of Jerusalem,)

and I shall set my face against them. They shall go out of the (one) fire, and (then another) fire shall waste them; and ye shall know, that I am the Lord, when I shall set my face against them,

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem. I will set my face against(A) them. Although they have come out of the fire(B), the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord.(C) I will make the land desolate(D) because they have been unfaithful,(E) declares the Sovereign Lord.”
