⁴⁰ They will bring a mob against you, who will stone^(A) you and hack you to pieces with their swords. ⁴¹ They will burn down^(B) your houses and inflict punishment on you in the sight of many women.^(C) I will put a stop^(D) to your prostitution, and you will no longer pay your lovers.

²⁴ Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons^(A) and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.^{(B) 25} Joshua said, “Why have you brought this trouble^(C) on us? The Lord will bring trouble on you today.”

Then all Israel stoned him,^(D) and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.^(E)
