⁴⁴“Behold, everyone who quotes ^(A)proverbs will quote this proverb about you, saying, ‘Like ^[a]mother, like daughter.’

Ezekiel 16:44

⁴⁴“‘Everyone who quotes proverbs^(A) will quote this proverb about you: “Like mother, like daughter.”

²“^(A)What do you people mean by using this proverb about the land of Israel, saying,

‘^(B)The fathers eat sour grapes,
^[a]But it is the children’s teeth that have become blunt’?

³As I live,” declares the Lord ^[b]God, “you certainly are not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore.

²“What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel:

“‘The parents eat sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?^(A)

³“As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, you will no longer quote this proverb^(B) in Israel.
