Ezekiel 17:2-4
International Standard Version
2 “Son of Man, compose a riddle and relate a parable to Israel’s house. 3 Tell them, ‘This is what the Lord God says, “A massive eagle with gigantic wings, long pinions, and full, multi-colored plumage came to Lebanon and took away the top of the cedar.[a] 4 He plucked off the top of its shoot, brought it to a land of merchants, and set it down in a city full of traders.

2 “Son of man, set forth an allegory and tell it to the Israelites as a parable.(A) 3 Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: A great eagle(B) with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon.(C) Taking hold of the top of a cedar, 4 he broke off(D) its topmost shoot and carried it away to a land of merchants, where he planted it in a city of traders.
