21 For the king of Babylon stands at the [a]parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use (A)divination; he (B)shakes the arrows; he asks the [b](C)household idols; he looks at the liver. 22 Into his right hand came the divination, ‘Jerusalem,’ to (D)set battering rams, to open the mouth [c]for killing, to lift up the voice with a shout of war, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up ramps, to build a siege wall. 23 And it will be to them like a worthless divination in their eyes; (E)they have sworn solemn oaths. But he (F)brings iniquity to remembrance, that they may be seized.

21 For the king of Babylon will stop at the fork in the road, at the junction of the two roads, to seek an omen: He will cast lots(A) with arrows, he will consult his idols,(B) he will examine the liver.(C) 22 Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem, where he is to set up battering rams, to give the command to slaughter, to sound the battle cry,(D) to set battering rams against the gates, to build a ramp(E) and to erect siege works.(F) 23 It will seem like a false omen to those who have sworn allegiance to him, but he will remind(G) them of their guilt(H) and take them captive.
