16 The recesses and their posts had windows, with shutters[a] on the inside of the gateway all around, and the vestibules also had windows on the inside all around, and on the posts were palm trees.(A)
17 Then he brought me into the outer court; there were chambers there and a pavement all around the court; thirty chambers fronted on the pavement.(B) 18 The pavement ran along the side of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates; this was the lower pavement.

16 The alcoves and the projecting walls inside the gateway were surmounted by narrow parapet openings all around, as was the portico; the openings all around faced inward. The faces of the projecting walls were decorated with palm trees.(A)
The Outer Court
17 Then he brought me into the outer court.(B) There I saw some rooms and a pavement that had been constructed all around the court; there were thirty rooms(C) along the pavement.(D) 18 It abutted the sides of the gateways and was as wide as they were long; this was the lower pavement.
