10 But (A)the Levites who went far from me, going astray from me after their idols (B)when Israel went astray, (C)shall bear their punishment.[a] 11 They shall be (D)ministers in my sanctuary, having oversight (E)at the gates of the temple and ministering in the temple. They shall slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and (F)they shall stand before the people, to minister to them. 12 Because they ministered to them before their idols and became (G)a stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have (H)sworn concerning them, declares the Lord God, and they shall bear their punishment.

10 “‘The Levites who went far from me when Israel went astray(A) and who wandered from me after their idols must bear the consequences of their sin.(B) 11 They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings(C) and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.(D) 12 But because they served them in the presence of their idols and made the people of Israel fall(E) into sin, therefore I have sworn with uplifted hand(F) that they must bear the consequences of their sin, declares the Sovereign Lord.(G)
