^15 (A)But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors ^(B)to Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. ^(C)Will he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he ^(D)break the covenant and yet escape?

^5 (A)The army of Pharaoh had come out of Egypt. And when ^(B)the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news about them, ^(C)they withdrew from Jerusalem.

⁶ Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet: ⁷ “Thus says the Lord, God of Israel: Thus shall you say to the king of Judah who ^(D)sent you to me to enquire of me, ‘Behold, ^(E)Pharaoh's army that came to help you is about to ^(F)return to Egypt, to its own land. ⁸ And ^(G)the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city. ^(H)They shall capture it and burn it with fire.
