Then Shealtiel's son, Zerubbabel, and Jozadak's son, Jeshua, started again to build God's temple in Jerusalem. God's prophets were there to help them.

At that time, Tattenai was the ruler who had authority over the region on the west side of the Euphrates river. He went with Shethar-Bozenai and their friends to ask the Jews what they were doing. They asked them, ‘Who gave you the authority to build this temple and make it ready to use again?’ They also asked, ‘What are the names of the men who are building this place?’

Then Zerubbabel(A) son of Shealtiel and Joshua(B) son of Jozadak set to work(C) to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

At that time Tattenai,(D) governor of Trans-Euphrates, and Shethar-Bozenai(E) and their associates went to them and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and to finish it?”(F) They[a] also asked, “What are the names of those who are constructing this building?”
