Ezra 8:22-24
New King James Version
22 For (A)I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, (B)“The hand of our God is upon all those for (C)good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are (D)against all those who (E)forsake Him.” 23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He (F)answered our prayer.

22 I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers(A) and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone(B) who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.(C)” 23 So we fasted(D) and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.
