4 Then (A)everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles gathered to me, and I sat appalled until (B)the evening offering.
Prayer of Confession
5 But at the evening offering I arose from my [a]humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and (C)stretched out my [b]hands to the Lord my God; 6 and I said, “O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have [c]risen above our heads and our (D)guilt has grown even to the heavens.

4 Then everyone who trembled(A) at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of this unfaithfulness of the exiles. And I sat there appalled(B) until the evening sacrifice.
5 Then, at the evening sacrifice,(C) I rose from my self-abasement, with my tunic and cloak torn, and fell on my knees with my hands(D) spread out to the Lord my God 6 and prayed:
