14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about (A)the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter (B)before them all, (C)“If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, [a]why do you compel Gentiles to live as [b]Jews? 15 (D)We who are Jews by nature, and not (E)sinners of the Gentiles, 16 (F)knowing that a man is not [c]justified by the works of the law but (G)by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not (H)by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found (I)sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I (J)through the law (K)died to the law that I might (L)live to God. 20 I have been (M)crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh (N)I live by faith in the Son of God, (O)who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for (P)if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died [d]in vain.”

17 “But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners,(J) doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!(K) 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker.

19 “For through the law I died to the law(L) so that I might live for God.(M) 20 I have been crucified with Christ(N) and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.(O) The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,(P) who loved me(Q) and gave himself for me.(R) 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law,(S) Christ died for nothing!”[b]
