Galatians 3:18-20
New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised Catholic Edition
18 For if the inheritance comes from the law, it no longer comes from the promise; but God granted it to Abraham through the promise.
The Purpose of the Law
19 Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring[a] would come to whom the promise had been made; and it was ordained through angels by a mediator. 20 Now a mediator involves more than one party; but God is one.

Galatians 3:18-20
New International Version
18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise;(A) but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions(B) until the Seed(C) to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels(D) and entrusted to a mediator.(E) 20 A mediator,(F) however, implies more than one party; but God is one.
