29 But as it was then, he who was born after the flesh persecuted him who was born after the Spirit, so it is now also. 30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.”[a] 31 So then, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

29 At that time the son born according to the flesh(A) persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit.(B) It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”[a](C) 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman,(D) but of the free woman.(E)
