16 (A)For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten (B)Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will (A)worship the Father in (B)spirit (C)and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 (D)God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

20 For since the creation of the world (A)His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and [a]Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but (B)became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 (C)Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the (D)incorruptible (E)God into an image made like [b]corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 (F)Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, (G)to dishonor their bodies (H)among themselves, 25 who exchanged (I)the truth of God (J)for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For (A)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, (B)the things of the Spirit. For (C)to be [a]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because (D)the [b]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, (E)nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. (A)Convince, (B)rebuke, (C)exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. (D)For the time will come when they will not endure (E)sound doctrine, (F)but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and (G)be turned aside to fables.

Living Before God Our Father

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not (A)conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 (B)but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, (C)“Be holy, for I am holy.”

17 And if you call on the Father, who (D)without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your [a]stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with [b]corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but (E)with the precious blood of Christ, (F)as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 (G)He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was [c]manifest (H)in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, (I)who raised Him from the dead and (J)gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

The Enduring Word

22 Since you (K)have purified your souls in obeying the truth [d]through the Spirit in [e]sincere (L)love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 (M)having been born again, not of [f]corruptible seed but [g]incorruptible, (N)through the word of God which lives and abides [h]forever, 24 because

(O)“All flesh is as grass,
And all [i]the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
25 (P)But the [j]word of the Lord endures forever.”

(Q)Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Do Not Love the World

15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. (B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, (C)the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And (D)the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
