Adam’s Descendants to Noah and His Sons

5 This is the list of the descendants of Adam. When God created humans,^[a] he made them^[b] in the likeness of God.^(A)

¹⁰ and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator.^(A)

²⁴ and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.^(A)

²⁶ Then God said, “Let us make humans^[a] in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth^[b] and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”^(A)

²⁹ See, this alone I found, that God made human beings straightforward, but they have devised many schemes.^(A)

⁹ Moreover, we had human parents to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not be even more willing to be subject to the Father of spirits and live?

³ He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains^[a] all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for^[b] sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,^(A)

¹⁸ And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.^(A)

⁷ For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection^[a] of God, but woman is the reflection^[b] of man.^(A)

³⁶ son of Cainan, son of Arphaxad, son of Shem, son of Noah, son of Lamech,^{(A) 37} son of Methuselah, son of Enoch, son of Jared, son of Mahalaleel, son of Cainan, ³⁸ son of Enos, son of Seth, son of Adam, son of God.^(B)
