Genesis 12:5-7

Good News Translation

⁵Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all the wealth and all the slaves they had acquired in Haran, and they started out for the land of Canaan.

When they arrived in Canaan, ⁶Abram traveled through the land until he came to the sacred tree of Moreh, the holy place at Shechem. (At that time the Canaanites were still living in the land.) ⁷^(A)The Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “This is the country that I am going to give to your descendants.” Then Abram built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Genesis 12:5-7

New International Version

⁵He took his wife Sarai,^(A) his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated^(B) and the people^(C) they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan,^(D) and they arrived there.

⁶Abram traveled through the land^(E) as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh^(F) at Shechem.^(G) At that time the Canaanites^(H) were in the land. ⁷The Lord appeared to Abram^(I) and said, “To your offspring^[a] I will give this land.^(J)”^(K) So he built an altar there to the Lord,^(L) who had appeared to him.
