13 One person escaped and came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks that belonged to Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and Aner. They were allies of Abram. 14 When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he led out all his trained men who were born in his house, three hundred eighteen of them, and pursued them as far as Dan. 15 During the night he divided his servants into groups to attack them. He struck them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.

13 A man who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew.(A) Now Abram was living near the great trees of Mamre(B) the Amorite, a brother[a] of Eshkol(C) and Aner, all of whom were allied with Abram. 14 When Abram heard that his relative(D) had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained(E) men born in his household(F) and went in pursuit as far as Dan.(G) 15 During the night Abram divided his men(H) to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.(I)
