10 And he took him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each half over against the other: but the birds divided he not. 11 And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.

10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other;(A) the birds, however, he did not cut in half.(B) 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses,(C) but Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep,(D) and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him.
