¹⁰ This is My covenant, which you are to keep, between Me and you and your offspring after you: Every one of your males must be circumcised. ¹¹ You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskin to serve as a sign of the covenant between Me and you.^{[a](A) 12} Throughout your generations, every male among you at eight days old is to be circumcised.^(B) This includes a slave born in your house and one purchased with money from any foreigner. The one who is not your offspring, ¹³ a slave born in your house, as well as one purchased with money, must be circumcised. My covenant will be marked in your flesh as an everlasting covenant. ¹⁴ If any male is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that man will be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

²⁴ On the trip, at an overnight campsite, it happened that the Lord confronted him and sought to put him to death. ²⁵ So Zipporah took a flint, cut off her son’s foreskin, and threw it at Moses’ feet.^[a] Then she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood to me!”^{(A) 26} So He let him alone. At that time she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood,” referring to the circumcision.^[b]

⁴⁴ But any slave a man has purchased may eat it, after you have circumcised him.

⁴⁸ If a foreigner resides with you and wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate;^[a] he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it.

³ The flesh of his foreskin^(A) must be circumcised^(B) on the eighth day.^(C)
