19 But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac.[a] I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring. 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you. I will certainly bless him; I will make him fruitful and will multiply him greatly. He will father 12 tribal leaders,(A) and I will make him into a great nation. 21 But I will confirm My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this time next year.”(B)

19 Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son,(A) and you will call him Isaac.[a](B) I will establish my covenant with him(C) as an everlasting covenant(D) for his descendants after him. 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers.(E) He will be the father of twelve rulers,(F) and I will make him into a great nation.(G) 21 But my covenant(H) I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you(I) by this time next year.”(J)
