^8 (A)I will give to you and to your ^[a]descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and ^(B)I will be their God.”

^43 (A)So the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and ^(B)they possessed it and lived in it.

⁵ But He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot of ground, and yet, even when he had no child, ^(A)He promised that He would give it to him as a possession, and to his descendants after him.
