16 But Lot was taking too much time, so the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, because of the Lord’s compassion for him. They led him out and placed him outside of the city. 17 Then when they had taken them out, one of them said, “Run for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, so that you are not swept away!”
18 Lot said to them, “Oh no, my lord.[a]

16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters(A) and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.(B) 17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives!(C) Don’t look back,(D) and don’t stop anywhere in the plain!(E) Flee to the mountains(F) or you will be swept away!”
18 But Lot said to them, “No, my lords,[a] please!
