Genesis 19:19-21

Good News Translation

¹⁹You have done me a great favor and saved my life. But the hills are too far away; the disaster will overtake me, and I will die before I get there. ²⁰Do you see that little town? It is near enough. Let me go over there—you can see it is just a small place—and I will be safe.”

²¹He answered, “All right, I agree. I won't destroy that town.

¹⁹Your^[a] servant has found favor in your^[b] eyes,^(A) and you^[c] have shown great kindness^(B) to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains;^(C) this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. ²⁰Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”
