Genesis 19:24-29

²⁴Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

²⁵And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

²⁶But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

²⁷And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:

²⁸And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

²⁹And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

Genesis 19:24-29

New International Version

²⁴Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur^(A) on Sodom and Gomorrah^(B)—from the Lord out of the heavens.^(C) ²⁵Thus he overthrew those cities^(D) and the entire plain,^(E) destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.^(F) ²⁶But Lot’s wife looked back,^(G) and she became a pillar of salt.^(H)

²⁷Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord.^(I) ²⁸He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.^(J)

²⁹So when God destroyed the cities of the plain,^(K) he remembered^(L) Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe^(M) that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.^(N)
