⁸Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden;^(A) and there he put the man he had formed.

⁸And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

¹⁰A river^(A) watering the garden flowed from Eden;^(B) from there it was separated into four headwaters.
