⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham in and said to him, “What have you done to us? How did I sin against you that you have brought such enormous guilt on me and on my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.”^(A)

⁷ Jacob’s sons returned from the field when they heard about the incident. They were deeply grieved and very angry, for Shechem had committed an outrage against Israel by raping Jacob’s daughter,^(A) and such a thing should not be done.

⁹ You are not to have sexual intercourse with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s,^(A) whether born at home or born elsewhere. You are not to have sex with her.

¹⁷ If a man marries his sister,^(A) whether his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and they have sexual relations,^[a](B) it is a disgrace.^(C) They are to be cut off publicly from their people. He has had sexual intercourse with his sister; he will bear his iniquity.
