Genesis 21:11-13

Amplified Bible

¹¹The situation ^[a]distressed Abraham greatly because of his son [Ishmael]. ¹²God said to Abraham, “Do not let it distress you because of Ishmael and your maid; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her and do what she asks, for your descendants will be named through Isaac.^(A) ¹³And I will also make a nation of [Ishmael] the son of the maid, because he is your descendant.”

New International Version

¹¹The matter distressed Abraham greatly because it concerned his son.^(A) ¹²But God said to him, “Do not be so distressed about the boy and your slave woman. Listen to whatever Sarah tells you, because it is through Isaac that your offspring^[a] will be reckoned.^(B) ¹³I will make the son of the slave into a nation^(C) also, because he is your offspring.”
