⁹ Then they came to ^(A)the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built ^(B)the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and ^(C)laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. ¹⁰ And Abraham reached out with his hand and took the knife to ^[a]slaughter his son.

¹² He said, “Do not reach out your hand against the boy, and do not do anything to him; for now ^(A)I know that you ^[a]fear God, since you have not withheld ^(B)your son, your only son, from Me.”

¹⁶ and said, “^(A)By Myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, ¹⁷ indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly ^(B)multiply your ^[a]seed as the stars of the heavens and as ^(C)the sand, which is on the seashore; and ^(D)your ^[b]seed shall possess the gate of ^[c]their enemies. ¹⁸ And ^(E)in your ^[d]seed all the nations of the earth shall ^[e]be blessed, because you have ^(F)obeyed My voice.”
