Genesis 24:7-9 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

¶ The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house, and from the land where I was born, and that spake unto me, and that swear unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land, he shall send his Angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.

Nevertheless if the woman will not follow thee, then shalt thou be [a]discharged of this mine oath: only bring not my son thither again.

Then the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him for this matter.

Genesis 24:7-9 New International Version (NIV)

“The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring[a] I will give this land’—he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there. If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there.” So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter.
