19 And he called the name of that place [a]Beth-el: but the name of the city was Luz at the first. 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, [b]and Jehovah will be my God,

New International Version
19 He called that place Bethel,[a](A) though the city used to be called Luz.(B)
20 Then Jacob made a vow,(C) saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me(D) on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear(E) 21 so that I return safely(F) to my father’s household,(G) then the Lord[b] will be my God(H)
