Genesis 32:19-21
English Standard Version Anglicised
19 He likewise instructed the second and the third and all who followed the droves, “You shall say the same thing to Esau when you find him, 20 and you shall say, ‘Moreover, your servant Jacob is behind us.’” For he thought, “I may appease him[a] with the present that goes ahead of me, and afterwards I shall see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”[b] 21 So the present passed on ahead of him, and he himself stayed that night in the camp.

New International Version
19 He also instructed the second, the third and all the others who followed the herds: “You are to say the same thing to Esau when you meet him. 20 And be sure to say, ‘Your servant(A) Jacob is coming behind us.’” For he thought, “I will pacify him with these gifts(B) I am sending on ahead;(C) later, when I see him, perhaps he will receive me.”(D) 21 So Jacob’s gifts(E) went on ahead of him, but he himself spent the night in the camp.
