Genesis 32:20-22
American Standard Version
20 and ye shall say, Moreover, behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept me. 21 So the present passed over before him: and he himself lodged that night in the company.
22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven children, and passed over the ford of the Jabbok.

New International Version
20 And be sure to say, ‘Your servant(A) Jacob is coming behind us.’” For he thought, “I will pacify him with these gifts(B) I am sending on ahead;(C) later, when I see him, perhaps he will receive me.”(D) 21 So Jacob’s gifts(E) went on ahead of him, but he himself spent the night in the camp.
