²⁵ Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, ^(A)Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males.

³⁰ Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, ^(A)“You have ^(B)troubled me ^(C)by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; ^(D)and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I.”

¹⁴ And may God ^(A)Almighty ^(B)give you mercy before the man, that he may release your other brother and Benjamin. ^(C)If I am bereaved, I am bereaved!”

²³ But he said, “Peace be with you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money.” Then he brought ^(A)Simeon out to them.
