⁷ Now the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry because he had done a ^[a](A)disgraceful thing in Israel ^[b]by lying with Jacob’s daughter, for such a thing ought not to be done.

²¹ then they shall bring out the girl to the doorway of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her ^[a]to death because she has ^(A)committed an act of folly in Israel by playing the harlot in her father’s house; thus ^(B)you shall purge the evil from among you.

⁶ And I ^(A)took hold of my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout the land of Israel’s inheritance; for ^(B)they have committed a lewd and disgraceful act in Israel.

¹² But she answered him, “No, my brother, do not violate me, for ^(A)such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this ^(B)disgraceful thing!
