7 Now the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard about it; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry because he had done a [a](A)disgraceful thing in Israel by [b]sleeping with Jacob’s daughter, for such a thing ought not to be done.

7 Meanwhile, Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were shocked(A) and furious,(B) because Shechem had done an outrageous thing in[a] Israel(C) by sleeping with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.(D)
