15 So Jacob called the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.

16 Then they journeyed from Bethel; and when they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel was in childbirth, and she had a difficult labour. 17 When she was in her difficult labour, the midwife said to her, ‘Do not be afraid; for now you will have another son.’

15 Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.[a](A)

16 Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath,(C) Rachel(D) began to give birth and had great difficulty. 17 And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife(E) said to her, “Don’t despair, for you have another son.”(F)
