²¹ But ^(A)Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands, and said, “Let us not kill him.”

⁸ Now ^(A)these were the names of the children of Israel, Jacob and his sons, who went to Egypt: ^(B)Reuben was Jacob’s firstborn.

⁵ And now your ^(A)two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

¹⁴ Then Israel stretched out his right hand and ^(A)laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, ^(B)guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the ^(C)firstborn.
