19 When Joseph’s master heard the thing that his wife told him, “This is what your servant did to me,” he was incensed. 20 Joseph’s master took him and threw him in jail, the place where the king’s prisoners were held. While he was in jail, 21 the Lord was with Joseph and remained loyal to him. He caused the jail’s commander to think highly of Joseph.

19 When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger.(A) 20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison,(B) the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.

But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the Lord was with him;(C) he showed him kindness(D) and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.(E)
