⁵¹ Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh,^[a] “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”

⁵² The second he named Ephraim,^[a] “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my misfortunes.”^(A)

¹⁰ When the child grew up, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses,^[a] “because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”^(A)
