22 And Reuben answered them, saying, “(A)Did I not tell you, saying, ‘Do not sin against the boy’; yet you would not listen? (B)So also his blood, behold, it is required of us.” 23 Now they did not know that Joseph was listening, for there was an interpreter between them. 24 And he turned away from them and (C)wept. Then he returned to them and spoke to them. And he (D)took Simeon from them and bound him before their eyes.

22 Reuben replied, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy?(A) But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting(B) for his blood.”(C) 23 They did not realize(D) that Joseph could understand them,(E) since he was using an interpreter.
24 He turned away from them and began to weep,(F) but then came back and spoke to them again. He had Simeon taken from them and bound before their eyes.(G)
