Genesis 49:2-4
Legacy Standard Bible

2 Assemble together and hear, O sons of Jacob;
And (A)listen to Israel your father.

3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn;
My might and (B)the beginning of my vigor,
[a]Preeminent in dignity and [b]preeminent in strength.
4 [c]Uncontrolled as water, you shall not have preeminence,
(C)Because you went up to your father’s bed;
Then you defiled it—he went up to my couch.

    excelling in honor,(E) excelling in power.
4 Turbulent as the waters,(F) you will no longer excel,
    for you went up onto your father’s bed,
    onto my couch and defiled it.(G)
