¹² God saw how corrupt the earth was, for every creature had corrupted its way on the earth.^(A)

⁴⁸ Then all people will see that I, Yahweh, have kindled it.^(A) It will not be extinguished.”

⁴ Since I will cut off^[a] both the righteous and the wicked, My sword will therefore come out of its sheath against everyone from the south to the north.^{(A) 5} So all the people will know that I, Yahweh, have taken My sword from its sheath—it will not be sheathed again.^(B)
